Vitamin D is essential for the mind and body.

A deficiency of Vitamin D can cause a lot not so noticeable health defects.

Vitamin D deficiency can look like...

  • Fatigue

  • Bone and Muscle Weakness

  • Depression and Mood Changes

  • Hair Loss

  • Weaken Immune System

National institutes of Health suggest that people age 1-50 should intake 15 micrograms of vitamin D daily. So what can you do to increase your daily Vitamin D intake. Well vitamin D comes from the sun so the simple is to go touch grass, but sometimes you can't do that so the next best thing is to find your vitamin D source in food or supplements.

Fish like salmon and trout and mushrooms are great sources of vitamin D. These can be easily cooked and incorporated into meals of your choosing. Other good sources are egg yolks, orange juice, milk, plant based milk, and more. All foods listed can be cooked and combined to make a great vitamin D filled meal.

How do you know if you have a vitamin D deficiency? Well look for signs and symptoms, but be careful! Always consult your doctor and try not to self-diagnose. If it is confirmed that you have a vitamin D deficiency don't fret! This is common and is just an indication to change your diet or routine. If taken supplements (like me) is more your style then I have listed the supplements I take below.
